I bought a Bratz doll. Actually several.

WHY???

Today I gave my Powerpoint presentation at college today on school uniforms. I used Kit and Samantha to model 2 doll school uniforms I have as part of my presentation. One of the points I made was why public schools are now making kids wear uniforms.

I used the example of a Bratz doll dressed in a very short skirt and top with no straps and bare midriff. I wanted to show what the uniforms were trying to prevent and the kinds of clothes and heavy makeup the Bratz doll was wearing was a good example of that. And I did get it on sale.

I think Bratz are the anti-American Girl. I think the things they wear are not appropriate influences for children young enough to play with dolls. After I bought 2 Bratz dolls for my presentation along with my 2 AGs, I went back to Target and bought 2 more and the 4 Boyz.

WHY??

I decided the Bratz were going to represent the "enemies" of some sort. Every good character has some kind of enemy. Skeletor. Gargamel. The Wicked Witch. Bullies.

So the 8 bratz-4 girls and 4 guys will be the enemies to my AGs of sort. OK, not really enemies, but the bad influences kids have to deal with in school and in their neighborhoods. We all see the other people wearing the kinds of inappropraite clothes others wear or makeup and decide not to go that route.

So my Bratz dolls will be represent the school bullies, the girls who make fun of others because of how they're dressed, the ones that try to get the good kids to ditch school, or try drinking or pot or smoking, or engage in reckless behavior. Also the populars who seem perfect to the rest.

Now I know there are some people who like the Bratz and say they're not like that. But part of being a doll is being able to make them into whatever characters I want to. So these are the characters I'm making MY Bratz dolls into.
